HELP HERE!!!

Pledge Now! Tomorrow is the Day!

Tuesday, February 9:   The City of San Diego has told us that they will only talk to us about considering the suspension of the auction if we have the money for a one-year budget in our hand.  We don't know if we can get it by tomorrow, but here is our shot. Our objective is to STOP THE AUCTION and buy some time to form a partnership with the city to keep our Mounted Patrol.  No actual money will be sent right now, but please pledge only what you will send if we can get the auction halted.

No contribution will be accepted if the auction is not stopped.  Any contribution, if the City stops the auction, would go directly into the City of San Diego's Partnership Fund, specially earmarked for use only to pay for the Mounted Patrol. Our family is pledging $5,000 and we have had some additional pledges as well. Any amount is welcome!  To pledge a financial contribution and HELP STOP THE AUCTION please write us directly atsaveSDmountedpatrol@gmail.com

THANK YOU for all of your support, comments and encouragement and I know that the Mounted Patrol team is deeply grateful for your appreciation of them.  Russ and Sharron Evans, Alissa and Jon King

Dear Horse friends.

Help!!!!!!!!!!

Save San Diego’s Mounted Horse Patrol!

We have organized a grass roots organization to stop the auction of San Diego’s 7 remaining mounted police horses!

These horses and officers (Officers have been reassigned) will be dismantled and this historic and valuable asset to the city and county will be lost for ever.

Visit our web site savesdmountedpatrol.com

This is part of a budget cut that will only save $100,000.00 a year. It calculates out to the comparison of spending a dollar to save 4.5 cents in terms of the lost assets.

The Mounted Patrol itself resubmitted a new budget proposal to take last year’s budget from $252,000.00 a year (by doing more volunteer work and finding other ways to save money) down to $106,000.00 a year.

This historic and well trained group of horses and officers are a major San Diego land mark. They have worked numerous conventions, exhibitions, parades and crowd control  that could not otherwise be controlled by regular street duty officers.

They are a symbol of the great equine heritage that has been a part of southern California since it was just a territory to this present time.

Please, if you are an English, Western, Hunter, Jumper, Pleasure, Endurance, Beauty Queen, lover and respecter of horse, visit our web site.

If we could come together as the horse enthusiasts that we all are and save this organization we can keep one of the most important equine treasures of San Diego alive.

Please pass this on to any of your friends, family, clubs, patrons or trainers that you feel may want to know and help. Just a simple email to the Mayors office or chief of police will help those office’s feel the need to review our proposal to save the San Diego Mounted Police.

Feb 11, 2010 is the end of the auction. Let’s stop the auction.

Thanks Russ Evans, Vista, Calif.
